摘要: Abstract Downtowns in the US have not traditionally been considered appropriate place for residential use. This paper begins by highlighting previous rounds of downtown revitalization paid little attention to activity. The then discusses reasons why this most recent round housing activity and policy that differ from attempts at encouraging housing; success was partly due historic preservation a new appreciation living. second section details some actual building trends based on survey 20 selected cities. concludes with stressing significance including as part larger economic development plan older downtowns.
