Retrieval inhibition from part-set cuing: A persisting enigma in memory research

摘要: When people are asked to recall words from a list they have just studied or produce as many items possible well-known category (e.g., states of the United States), having available subset cues often does not facilitate retrieval remaining and sometimes inhibits it. The finding has been obtained times with variety experimental tasks including categorized noncategorized lists very long-term memory. This paper reviews studies that yielded effect, considers several explanations it proposed. None these is viewed be entirely adequate compelling.
