摘要: Abstract We present an overview of the seismogenic sources northeastern Italy and western Slovenia, included in last version Database Individual Seismogenic Sources (DISS 3.0.2) a new definition geometry Montello Source that will be next release database. The DISS are active faults capable generating Mw > 5.5 earthquakes. describe method data used for their identification characterization, discuss some implications seismic hazard underline controversial points open issues. In Veneto–Friuli area (NE Italy), destructive earthquakes up to Mw 6.6 generated by thrust faulting along N-dipping structures Eastern Southalpine Chain. Thrusting mountain front responds about 2 mm/a regional convergence, it is associated with growing anticlines, tilted uplifted Quaternary palaeolandsurfaces forced drainage anomalies. dextral strike–slip NW–SE trending Idrija Fault System dominates release. Activity style defined recent (e.g. Ms 5.7, 1998 Bovec–Krn Mt. 5.2, 2004 Kobarid earthquakes), while related morphotectonic imprint still debated matter. reinterpreted large set tectonic developed segmentation model outermost Chain front. also proposed association four major shocks 1976 Friuli earthquake sequence individual segments three fronts. Although several sub-parallel strands exist we were able positively identify only two System. A comparison GPS velocity long-term geological slip-rates shows from quarter half deformation absorbed external alignment Veneto Friuli. partitioning Slovenia among different could not quantified.
