摘要: As axons grow past intermediate targets, they change their responsiveness to guidance cues. Local upregulation of receptor expression is involved, but the mechanisms for this are not clear. Here protein synthesis traced within individual by introducing RNAs encoding visualizable reporters. Individual severed and growth cones can translate proteins also export them cell surface. reach spinal cord midline, EphA2 among receptors upregulated on at least some distal axon segments. Midline reporter recapitulated part mRNA 3' untranslated region, which highly conserved includes known translational control sequences. These results show contain all machinery translation surface expression, reveal a potentially general flexible RNA-based mechanism regulation localized subregion axon.
