Reframing Public Health in Wartime: From the Biomedical Model to the “Wounds Inside”

摘要: This article traces the research trajectory of Institute Community and Public Health (ICPH) at Birzeit University, whose work focuses on life health outcomes for Palestinians living in chronic warlike conditions under Israeli settler-colonial rule. Over decades field-based work, ICPH researchers came to realization that medicalized responses trauma contributed concealing social political meaning attribute their collective experience. By adopting an approach linked biological/biomedical sphere through concept suffering, exposing sociopolitical inducing nature military occupation repression, ICPH9s has allowed simultaneous personalization war politicization health.
