摘要: [1] The NNE trending dextral Yangsan fault system and the WNW sinistral Gaum comprise a conjugate set that cuts Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin along SE margin of Korean Peninsula. These faults evidently formed under compressional stress accompanied by progressive 12° block rotation, calculated from geometric model incorporating angles between sets, widths domains, measured displacements. The angle paleomagnetic declinations in domains increases with age, suggesting incremental rotation included overall entire (or Peninsula) respect to Eurasia. accounts for Yucheon Group volcanism, subsequent caldera subsidence Uiseong subbasin, volcanism Miryang all produced regional tension. tectonic regime apparently evolved compression extension at ∼50 Ma, reflecting India-Eurasia collision opening Sea Japan (East Sea).
