An Ultrastructural Study of the “Extraneous Coat” of Human Colonic Mucosa

摘要: Summary A study of the ultrastructure human colonic mucosa revealed a remarkably well developed, hairy extraneous coat on luminal surface epithelial cells. Mucosal biopsies for this were obtained from rectosigmoids eight patients. The microvilli and intermicrovillous plasmalemma is covered with hairlike fibrils extending outer leaflet into lumen. This layer measures up to 1.5 p, in thickness best developed epithelium less crypt epithelium. appears be an integral part cell, but its site origin precise function remain speculative.
