摘要: After the fall of Iron Curtain, CEE cities (as well as other in former Socialist Bloc) experienced dynamic development many areas. The presented article deals with one of key areas post-socialist transformation the city, specifically humanisation mass housing large housing estates. These hous- ing estates from central planning period still dominate skyline towns. At beginning 1990s, suffered a number shortcomings that needed to be put right within the frame their humanisation. paper analyses a more than two decade-long process estate which gradually led replacement monofunctional (strictly residential) model multifunctional model. This leads improvement civic amenities, implementation new urban-archi- tectural solutions and creation new job opportunities. As result, these changes increase quality of life estates, both an objective and subjective point view. Changes spatial, social, economic physical structure after 1989 will analysed using examples hierarchi- cally different locations Czech Republic. synthesis findings will be supplemented results empirical studies were carried out by geographers, sociologists urban planners.
