摘要: Abstract The Great Lakes Nearshore Index is a model designed to evaluate overall quality of aquatic environments in 3 km segments mixing zones along the shoreline North American Lakes. structural characteristics and performance this have been tested determine its validity reliability producing water ratings. Model components were examined light goals those who sponsored development, concerns managers other residents Basin, by reference literature management. each component as partial measure was assessed comparing laboratory results sample analyses for variable with model's ratings same data sets. Validity ambient conditions evaluated comparison classifications U.S./Canada International Joint Commission based on biological surveys. Reliability calculated statistically expressed terms confidence intervals required size sets averaged annually. Results study generally support average, annual nearshore However, recent publications new legislation necessitate revision toxic substance parameters.
