摘要: When drivers are approaching a signalized intersection at the onset of yellow change interval, they sometimes hesitate to decide whether stop or cross due dilemma zone. This paper proposes pavement-marking countermeasure that helps make clear stop/go decision interval. A pavement marking with word message 'SIGNAL AHEAD' is placed on upstream approach permit vehicles cruising speed limit safely before reaching bar. To test effectiveness countermeasure, driving simulator experiment was conducted compare differences behavior between scenarios and without marking. The findings encouraging suggesting may result in safety enhancement as far red-light running rear-end traffic crashes intersections.
