Applications of infrared thermography for the investigation of historic structures

摘要: This paper contains an overview of infrared thermography and its applications relating to the investigation historic structures. In particular, this state art, non-destructive technique was used for assessment various traditional–historical materials structures after they had been conserved, restored or repaired using, depending on case, different treatments. Non-destructive testing evaluation performed in order assess physicochemical behaviour conservation treatments such as stone cleaning, consolidation, repair mortars, well disclose any substrate features, tesserae plastered mosaic surfaces. Wherever necessary, emissivity values investigated were taken into account, their determination laboratory representative samples. The outcome work provides strong evidence that is effective buildings sites.
