摘要: Abstract Transparent magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl 2 O 4 ) ceramic is one of an important optical materials. However, due to its pronounced hardness and brittleness, the machining this material very difficult. Diamond turning has advantages over grinding process in flexibility removal rate. there a lack research that could support use diamond technology MgAl ceramic. Using brittle-ductile transition theory brittle machining, work provides critical information may help realize ductile-regime A characterization method determination cutting edge radius introduced here. Suitable tools were measured for sharpness then chosen from large number candidate tools. The influence rounded edges on surface roughness also investigated. These results indicate quality relate tool’s edge, speed, feed Sharp (small edge) facilitated shows great potential reduce produce smoother final surface.
