摘要: Escherichia coli is a major cause of urinary tract infections (UTIs) where the initial infection arises from bacteria originating in bowel. However, significant differences are observed between genomes intestinal and E. strains with latter possessing many adaptations that promote growth tract. To define further adaptation isolates, cellular proteomes 41 strains, collected cases UTIs or random faecal samples, were compared by 2-D gel electrophoresis principal component analysis. The data indicated individual patients carried relatively homogenous populations, as defined their proteomes, but populations distinct patients. For one patient, coli, isolated during two recurrent 3 months apart, indistinguishable, indicating for this patient possibly caused same bacterial population. understand basis discrimination bacteria, selected protein spots identified peptide fragment fingerprinting. proteins involved variety metabolic structural roles. obtained these provide which to target key investigation into pathogenesis.
