摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the detection of cosmic X-ray and gamma-ray by atmospheric fluorescence Cerenkov radiation. In air, process in visible near-infrared regions spectrum occurs almost entirely nitrogen molecule molecular ion. For an beam given energy incident a normal direction on atmosphere, altitude maximum radiation is presented. An important parameter time duration received at ground-based detector when burst. The primary contribution to light from air shower electromagnetic cascade, since nuclear particles contribute only small fraction total number. first approximation, gamma-ray-initiated cannot be distinguished proton similar light. lateral distribution 1011-eV photon-initiated as function detector's field view, temporal characteristics pulse intensity distance core are also shown.
