摘要: Abstract Background Supraomohyoid neck dissection (SOHND) is currently performed in patients with carcinoma of the oral cavity clinically negative neck. Most investigators consider SOHND as a staging procedure. Methods Records 100 cancer and undergoing were reviewed. The rate significance occult metastases are evaluated, recurrences analyzed indication adjuvant radiation pN+ necks discussed. Results In 34 1814 lymph nodes, metastatic disease was detected follows: 30 macrometastases 4 micrometastases. 13 (38%), extracapsular spread observed. Twenty (20%) had to be upstaged. 9 87 (10%) without local recurrence minimal follow-up 24 months, 5 ipsilateral (4 within field) contralateral Regional developed 4% 35% pN0 necks, respectively. Conclusions 20% tumors neck, disclosed. Neck significantly more often than those necks. To evaluate exact for an treatment cN0/pN+ prospective studies should performed.
