摘要: This article examines the trend over time in measures of “typical” longevity experienced by members a population: life expectancy at birth, and median modal ages death. The also analyzes trends record values observed for all three measures. birth increased from level 44 years Sweden 1840 to 82 Japan 2005. age death shows increasing patterns similar those birth. However, changes very little until second half twentieth century: it moved plateau level, around 80, having pace increase as that mean most recent years. These findings explain previously uninterrupted expectancy. cause this has changed dominance child mortality reductions adult reductions, which became evident studying
