摘要: Gastric cancer is currently the second major cause of death in Japan from malignancy [1]. As such, it affects a wide range Japanese population, young adults to those older than 100 years age. Despite diversity ages affected, this has come be recognized as disease aged. Peak incidence gastric occurs men between 75 and 79 women 85 89 age Moreover, elderly patients eventually make up greatest proportion victims disease: 75.2% 78% who die are 65 geriatric population increases Japan, an increasing number presenting with cancer. This rise patient numbers highlights need elucidate characteristics particular population. Although generally believed that malignancies tend well differentiated slower growth rates less metastatic potential, there tumors exhibit aggressive biological behavior which resistant therapy. Analyses limited surgical gastrectomy specimens can misleading. The susceptible many other sources morbidity, such heart failure, arteriosclerosis, cerebral infarction, dementia. These comorbid states render patients, even early-stage cancers, poor operative candidates. Thus, when performing analysis clinicopathologic characteristics, unresectable autopsy cases should included studies elderly. In chapter, I elaborate on features among (Table 1), natural history, associated prognoses, molecular aspects tumor group.
