摘要: The clinical-histopathological correlation between Meniere's disease and endolymphatic hydrops was done to explain, as much possible, causes of symptoms disease. Twenty-three temporal bones with from 17 patients were reviewed clinical histopathological findings correlated. Histopathological examination revealed frequent, severe deformities in the labyrinthine walls permanent changes Reissner's membranes. Evidence rupture difficult assess. Of 21 ears diagnosis disease, 93% had hydrops. A statistical increased area cochlear duct hearing loss found. Some also found frequency vertigo results electronystagmography findings. Consequently, mechanical effect seems have greater significance production than biochemical ruptures. In a review ten unusual cases this series patients, traumatic neuromas or remnants vestibular structures after an incomplete labyrinthectomy. four who undergone subarachnoid shunt surgery are described.
