摘要: In contrast to the large body of studies on chimpanzee vision, few have examined function other sensory modalities in chimpanzees. 1929, Yerkes and noted a lack perception “except for sense sight”. The situation has remained largely unchanged 70 years, though there are exceptions. Vocal-auditory functions still least understood behavioral pattern chimpanzees (Mitani 1994; Nishida Tomosello Call 1996) despite many researchers having pointed out that vocal-auditory channels play particularly important roles behavior. Observations under completely natural conditions not always practicable (though desirable) evaluate cognitive abilities because difficulty excluding extraneous factors. Behavioral experimentation is also needed this sense, but only limited number at point. This probably fact training nonhuman primates auditory-related tasks very difficult, compared corresponding visual tasks.
