摘要: Giant landslides on volcanic islands represent the largest formations which can be created in a single geological moment. Such are distributed across globe and have attracted significant amount of research interest. Yet, no coherent attempts been made to rationalise this information into online resource. This report summarises about structure recently database giant presents some observations regarding uncertainties inherent inventories. The is being prepared over 3-year period: first year project has focused rationalising around Atlantic Ocean while second third years will focus such from Pacific Indian Ocean, respectively. Using database, it should possible interrogate spatial temporal patterns land sliding landslide reactivation as well better assess hazard potential risks posed by islands. It particularly interesting see if any evidence found for global triggers, eustatic or climatic changes, instead more commonly expounded local triggers. Ultimately, hoped that benefit both geoscientific community those agencies responsible civil defence. work part activities International Consortium Landslides, namely its Programme Landslides (Project n. 212). available webpage: https://www.irsm.cas.cz/ext/giantlandslides .
