摘要: BACKGROUND: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology characterized by recurring formation painful oral ulcers. RAS may result from epithelium damage caused T-cell-mediated immune response. CD4 + CD25 T regulatory (Treg) cells suppress proliferation and effector functions other cells, therefore are crucial in regulating the METHODS: We tested function peripheral high Treg active through their ability to inhibit cytokine production conventional cells. also attempted detect presence FOXP3 indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) mRNA lesional non-lesional mucosa patients healthy individuals using real-time PCR assay. RESULTS: derived were less efficient suppression than individuals. Moreover, RAS, nearly twice potent inhibition - cell donors. Furthermore, we have demonstrated decreased proportion blood compared with controls. failed mRNA, while IDO expression was biopsies ulcer or normal CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that both functionally quantitatively compromised constitutive lead loss local tolerance.
