摘要: The results of a study that assesses the effect adding small amounts calcium carbonate as fluxing agent on fired Clay bricks are presented. paper aims to improve energy demand fire clay manufacture through reduction firing temperature and process duration. shows additions in range 2-5 % (wt) improves compressive strength at around 900 oC sintering times between 1-3 hours. This would be caused by modifications mineralogical transformations which minerals undergo presence calcite, reduces clays containing mainly montmorillonite. presents broad changes phisico-chemicalmechanical properties both macroscale microscale levels. show consistent increase strength, associated with formation phase anorthite within reaction products. These were tested real prototypes, where manufactured increased 40-50%, while decreased 30-50%
