摘要: Sternal malunion can be a significant cause of morbidity in double-lung transplantation when it is performed through thoracosternotomy or clamshell incision. Some patients experience increased pain with and have delayed decreased functional recovery. We propose method sternal plating to decrease the incidence encountered this The transverse sternotomy rigidly fixed two titanium interlocking plates during chest closure, procedure that offers potential for timely consistent union sternum. plate configuration also affords unique quality closure; pin securing quickly released allowing expedient access mediastinal structures if emergent re-entry necessary.
