摘要: Over the last 15 years, despite lack of a specific strategy or dedicated financial instrument to deal with invasive alien species (IAS), European Commission (EC) has contributed financing almost 300 projects addressing this issue, for total budget exceeding 132 million EUR. Such figures are based on funded under two EU tools: LIFE and RTD Framework Programmes. The contribution programmes been characterised by an overall positive trend over in terms both number spent. can be assumed reflect increase awareness problem among wildlife managers scientific institutions, willingness pay EC institutions citizens general. data might contribute development response indicator measuring ‘Trends Europe’, useful assess progress toward target halting loss biodiversity 2010—as part SEBI 2010 process. results may also economic impact IAS Europe—in costs reduction and/or prevention damages—and support policy decisions communication campaigns.
