Health related quality of life in parents of six to eight year old children with Down syndrome

摘要: Raising a child with Down syndrome (DS) has been found to be associated lowered health related quality of life (HRQoL) in the domains cognitive functioning, social daily activities and vitality. We aimed explore which socio-demographics, functioning psychosocial variables were these HRQoL parents children DS. Parents 98 DS completed TNO-AZL adult questionnaire (TAAQOL) assessing socio-demographic, predictors. Using multiple linear regression analyses for each category predictors, we selected relevant predictors final models. The models revealed that was best predicted by sleep (β = .29, p < .01) parent having given up hobby −.29, .01), partner relation .34, .001), care an ill friend or family member −.31, vitality enough personal time .32, .01). Overall, rather than socio-demographics showed most consistent powerful relations These mainly support pressure. Systematic screening detect problems timely, interventions targeting supportive network demands are recommended.
