摘要: Background In contrast to animals and lower plants such as mosses ferns, sperm cells of flowering (angiosperms) are immobile require transportation the female gametes via vegetative pollen tube cell achieve double fertilization. The path towards gametophyte (embryo sac) has been intensively studied in many intra- interspecific crossing experiments with aim increasing gene pool crop for greater yield, improved biotic abiotic stress resistance, introducing new agronomic traits. Many attempts hybridize different species or genotypes failed due difficulty tubes reaching gametophyte. Detailed studies showed that these processes controlled by various self-incompatible (intraspecific) cross-incompatible (interspecific) hybridization mechanisms.
