摘要: Background The endolymphatic sac has been proposed as a target organ responsible for inner-ear symptom in allergic subjects. This is report of symptoms patients with nasal allergy. Method Retrospective review record charts known allergy presenting to the otorhinolaryngology out-patient department University College Hospital, Ibadan 5 years. Result Ear were found 95/144 (66%) subjects comprises 41 males and 44 females (M: F=1:1). Of these, itching external ear canal, hearing loss tinnitus accounted 63 (66%), 55 (58%) 39 (41%), respectively, while vertigo was 12 (13%). Peripheral vestibular signs imbalance seen 11/95. audiological assessment 73 revealed normal pure-tone average 43 (59%), sensorineural (SHL) 17 (23.3%). severity SHL mild 6/17, moderate 7 moderate-to-severe 4. erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) C-reactive protein (CRP) elevated 10/15 (67%) 6/15 (40%), skin sensitivity test showed reactions dust 32, cold 25, cockroach 7, perfume 11, vegetable oil 1 insecticide 2. clinical diagnoses idiopathic 25 (26.3%), Idiopathic (18%), cochlear hydrop 6 (6%) autoimmune disease (6%). Conclusion suggests some peculiar predisposition pathology However longitudinal cochleovestibular features will help its validation.
