摘要: Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 2 (SCD2) is one of four highly similar mouse Δ9 desaturases with close identity to the human desaturase, hSCD1. SCD2 functions in skin maintain palmitoleate and oleate complex lipids linoleic acid acylceramide, a key component protecting epidermal barrier. Thus, null mice exhibit high lethality, likely due severe dehydration permeability barrier defects. also plays major role hepatic lipogenesis embryonic newborn mice. However, decreased triglyceride VLDL production observed rescued by rising levels SCD1 adult animals. Interestingly, function may be distinct from cultured adipocytes since its depletion siRNA preadipocytes uniquely disrupts differentiation process. This effect associated reduced translation selective proteins, including PPARγ. Here we examine regulation, physiological roles adipose tissue, B T cells, liver, skin, reproduction, during development.
