Children’s future parasocial relationships with media characters: the age of intelligent characters

摘要: AbstractChildren experience emotionally tinged parasocial relationships with their favorite media characters across a constantly changing landscape. On the frontier of this landscape are intelligent agents: digital companions that can socially interact and educate children. We discuss how research on influence design “characters” for components relationships—including attachment, character personification, social realism—and these may play role in developing as effective educational tools. also examine development dissolution relationships, factors inform design. Educational implications technologies teaching tools discussed.
