摘要: Silica gel is a very important material in technology. Usually tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) used as precursor the sol-gel science. But silica can also be formed by liquid solutions, like alkali solutions and sols. Due to their importance paint technology constituent building material, we investigated (especially potassium water glass) sol Levasil 300. The formation process of inorganic quite different from TEOS. Gel TEOS due polymerization monomers, whereas condensation dense SiO2 particles with particle diameters few nanometers. Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy proved powerful tool obtain information on structure these processes. Most could derived main peak at ~1070 cm-1. This assigned TO3 vibration mode silica. In gels this composed peaks. Compared earlier studies an additional found ~1040 cm-1 solutions. By comparison FTIR spectra related glasses ~1027 modes surface particles. intensities individual peaks contain degree size about limited nanosized between 2 6 nm.
