New media and open and distance learning: new challenges for education in a knowledge society

摘要: The "digital society" provides not only with new technology, but also concepts. Information plays a central role and becomes valuable good, knowledge cannot be reduced to information, one aim for educators is contribute in "knowledge society", an "information society". A society structured networks, enriching the traditional hierarchies; promotes kind of "collective intelligence". In such society, open distance learning has dimensions faces challenges: collaboration individualization, dealing time space, presence distance, contributing lifelong learning. Stellenbosch Declaration gives main trends ICT education according six major issues: digital solidarity, learners learning, decision-making strategies, networking, research, teachers.
