摘要: Abstract Best KL, Kirby RL, Smith C, MacLeod DA. Wheelchair skills training for community-based manual wheelchair users: a randomized controlled trial. Objective To test the hypotheses that of users is efficacious, safe, and practical. Design Randomized Setting Rehabilitation center community. Participants Twenty (15 men, 5 women; age range, 21–77y), half with musculoskeletal neurologic disorders. Intervention were randomly allocated to Skills Training Program (WSTP) or control groups. In 1-hour individualized sessions, WSTP group participants received mean ± standard deviation 4.5±0.7 hours training. Caregivers participated whenever possible. addition at rehabilitation center, trainer traveled administer in Main Outcome Measures Using Test (WST, version 3.1), an objective 57 skills, we calculated total subtotal percentage scores (percentage number passed those possible) individual skill success rates. Results The group's improvement WST score was significantly greater than ( P =.002). increased from baseline value 70.8%±14.0% 74.2%±11.8% follow-up, relative 4.8% =.03). had clinically significant pre- posttraining improvements (≥20%) rates 25 compared only group. There no adverse incidents, participants' comments all positive. Conclusions These findings have implications care.
