摘要: The effects of continuous chlorination (as NaOCl) on estuarine benthic organisms were investigated with plankton-derived experimental communities. Twelve consecutive studies conducted, each which consisted approximately 60-day colonization periods from flowing waters that continuously received nominal concentrations 0·00, 0·47, 0·94 or 1·41 mg chlorine-produced oxidant (CPO) l −1 . Significant numerical abundances eight dominant species detected in data pooled over the 12 studies, although only two significantly affected proportional abundance. There was also a significant decline total numbers individuals collected chlorinated differences short-term community structures found four experiments and related to changes dominance increased toxicity due extreme cold weather.
