摘要: Existing data on the epidemiology of Paget's disease bone are limited by lack directly determined secular trends in clinically diagnosed disease. In current study, we examine incidence Olmsted County, MN, using from Rochester Epidemiology Project medical records linkage system. During period 1950 through 1994, 236 MN residents were for first time with at a mean age 69.6 years. Overall, there 129 (54.7%) men and 107 women, age-adjusted was 12.7 per 100,000 person-years (95% CI 10.4-14.9) among compared 7.0 5.6-8.3) County women (male/female ratio 1.8:1). The higher males females increase older statistically significant. seems to have increased over part study then declined. This may resulted ascertainment bias: introduction 12-test automated serum chemistry panel 1974 might led sudden apparent followed compensatory decrease. addition, decrease proportion patients who symptomatic diagnosis, 36% 1950-1959 27% 1980-1994. finding also suggests that routine measurement alkaline phosphatase more diagnosis asymptomatic individuals. subsequent fall is consistent previous reports, although this decline could be artifactual extent reservoir undiagnosed cases population exhausted earlier testing.
