摘要: Abstract Elastic wave velocities of synthetic Fe 3 Al 2 Si O 12 almandine have been determined at simultaneous high pressure and temperature up to 19 GPa 1700 K by the ultrasonic technique in conjunction with situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction a multi-anvil apparatus. Velocities are found substantially lower than those other major end-member garnets such as pyrope, grossular, MgSiO majorite, while their derivatives comparable latter garnets. The observed density, compressional ( V P ) shear S were combined fitted functions Eulerian strain EoS, yielding adiabatic bulk modulus K 0 = 174.2 (12) GPa G = 94.9 (7) GPa, ∂K /∂P = 4.61 (14), ∂G / ∂P = 1.06 (6), /∂T = −2.67 (7) × 10 −2 GPa K −1 , ∂G/∂T = −1.31 (8) × 10 . derivative is similar garnet end-members, which contrast higher value = 6.2 (5)) reported for pure an earlier study based on experiments 3 GPa. present new results majorite successfully used reproduce sound majoritic pyrolite composition.
