摘要: An organism must be able to modulate the expression of its genes. Some proteins, such as enzymes key metabolic pathways and ribosomal will required in large quantities. In an E. coli cell it has been calculated that there are 20000 ribosomes, so follows need at least 20 000 copies each constituent proteins. Conversely, some proteins normally present very low concentrations but can made greater quantities when required. Thus, growing on glucose, enzyme β-galactosidase is approximately five molecules per but, under circumstances described following sections, synthesized a thousandfold
