摘要: The prevalence of clinical gallbladder disease was determined in a cross-sectional survey Mexican Americans and non-Hispanic whites. study population randomly selected from three urban neighborhoods representing different socioeconomic strata. Gallbladder defined as history cholecystectomy, or stones on cholecystography. American women had an age-standardized 16.9%, vs 8.7% for whites (p < 0.0001). Prevalences men were 4.2 3.4%, respectively. ethnic differences persisted after stratification by age, parity, body mass index. inversely related to four measures status. After controlling obesity, ethnicity, the levels education, income, occupational status, neighborhood. These differences, if not result detection bias, suggest that environmental factors may play role gallstone pathogenesis. Identification such lead development preventive strategies.
