摘要: OBJECTIVE: To examine the sociodemographic, physical and mental health characteristics of single mothers in Ontario. DESIGN: Cross-sectional. SETTING: PARTICIPANTS: Ontario residents aged 15 years or older who participated Health Supplement survey conducted between December 1990 April 1991; 9953 eligible participants, 1540 were with at least 1 dependent child (less than 16 age). OUTCOME MEASURES: Prevalence rates characteristics. RESULTS: Single significantly more likely 2-parent families to be poor, 25 age less, have problems (dissatisfaction multiple aspects life, affective disorder ever psychiatric disorders past year ever) use services. When compared by income level, poor had a higher prevalence all outcomes measured; difference was significant for anxiety ever. In logistic regression analysis, single-mother status found strongest independent effect on predicting morbidity utilization services; next low income. CONCLUSIONS: are an services families. The risk is especially pronounced among mothers. Further studies needed determine which motherhood, apart from economic status, affect outcomes.
