摘要: Aims: Estimate the incidence, risk factors and clinical features of group B streptococcal (GBS) disease in Australian infants compare bacterial genotypes between infant maternal carriage. Methods: The Paediatric Surveillance Unit conducted a study invasive GBS aged 0-90 days July 2005 June 2008. Clinical data were obtained by questionnaire. isolates from affected antenatal carriers referred for genotyping. Results: One hundred fifty confirmed cases reported: 88 early-onset (EOD; 0-6 days) 62 late-onset (LOD). Based on review selected laboratory records, they represented similar to 1/3 all cases. Estimated national EOD LOD rates 0.38 0.19/1000 live births, respectively. Admission intensive care was common (44%), 7% died. or more obstetric indications intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis (IAP) identified 51% mothers; 53% mothers screened carriage, screening positive 45%; only 25% women with microbiological given IAP (no significant differences groups). Distribution differed significantly vaginal isolates: virulent serosubtype III-2/sequence type 17 strongly associated but uncommon among isolates. Conclusions: remain relatively low despite poor predictive values criteria for, compliance with, IAP. epidemiology differs that EOD. Further reduction morbidity mortality will require new strategies.
