摘要: BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a risk factor for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Neither the prevalence of PAD in type 2 (T2) DM nor its detrimental effects on quality life (QoL) or physical activity (PA) have been well described Brazilian population. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate newly diagnosed and associations with QoL, PA body composition sample T2DM patients from University Hospital. METHODS: Seventy-three (73) without previous diagnoses major complications related to were enrolled. was assessed using ankle-brachial index (ABI); QoL measured translated validated SF-36 questionnaire; modified Baecke by segmental multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance. RESULTS: 13.7%, predominantly mild severity (ABI between 0.8-0.9). The ABI results correlated age (ρ=-0.26, P=0.03), duration (ρ=-0.28, P=0.02) systolic diastolic blood pressure (ρ=-0.33, P=0.007 ρ=-0.28, P=0.02; respectively). Scores component summary (PCS) below normal range, but no negative impact identified PCS scores (normal-ABI 42.9±11.2 vs. PAD-ABI 38.12±11.07) results. Body analysis detected excessive fat, especially women, there difference groups. CONCLUSIONS: previously undiagnosed this population asymptomatic forms, not yet associated worsened levels variables.
