摘要: Background Patients undergoing prolonged pelvic surgery may develop compartment syndrome of one or both lower limbs in the absence direct trauma pre-existing vascular disease (well leg syndrome). This condition have devastating consequences for postoperative recovery, including loss life limb, and irreversible disability. Methods These guidelines represent collaboration a multidisciplinary group colorectal, orthopaedic surgeons, acting on behalf their specialty associations UK Ireland. A systematic analysis available peer-reviewed literature was undertaken to provide an evidence base from which these were developed. Results encompass risk factors (both patient- procedure-related), diagnosis management condition. Key recommendations adoption perioperative strategies facilitate prevention effective treatment well are presented. Conclusion All surgeons who carry out abdominopelvic surgical procedures should be aware syndrome, instigate policies within own institution reduce this potentially life-changing complication.
