Influence of initial solid-liquid interface morphology on further microstructure evolution during directional solidification

摘要: Preparation of the initial solid–liquid interface on which growth is started a very critical step in directional solidification experiments. Dedicated experiments concerning preparation morphology and its influence further directionally solidified microstructure were performed Cu-20 wt% Sn peritectic alloy Bridgman-type furnace. To verify interface, steady-state dendritic was interrupted by thermal stabilization ranging from 0 to 1 h prior quenching. With duration increase, degenerated cellular finally planar. state microstructure, at low pulling rate μm/s with different morphologies. The affects solute redistribution formation coupled structure subsequent process.
