摘要: In 2007, 38% of Medicare decedents with heart failure enrolled in hospice, along an informal caregiver. Caregiver satisfaction hospice care influences both patient and caregiver outcomes. has not been explored the population it is unknown whether differs between cancer populations. This dissertation study had three major aims: 1) identify predictors separately caregivers; 2) test a model relationship identified satisfaction; 3) compare matched cohorts caregivers. was retrospective cohort national data collected 2011 by National Hospice Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) using Family Evaluation (FEHC). FEHC responses caregivers adult (n=70,782) (n=19,818) patients were available for analysis, which stratified random sample 1,000 each selected aims 1 2. Multiple linear regression structural equation modeling used to analyze two separately, burden measured report symptoms FEHC's four domains question on overall care. Propensity scoring then match 7,370 individuals from diagnosis group prior comparing outcomes via t-tests. Both predominantly White females. Cancer more likely be male (52%) spouses (50%), while primarily female (55%) children (56%). age, race, education predicted satisfaction, place care, length stay reported (p<0.004). Structural performed revealed that caregiving demand mediates most characteristics but race moderates satisfaction. After propensity-score matching, there no difference Hospices should assess needs vulnerable plan additional supports.
