摘要: Although Asian bamboo species constitute a non-timber forest product of major cultural and economic importance, no detailed regional assessment their distribution patterns has previously been made. To assess the potential existing data for production mapping tools planning conservation forest-based biodiversity, on cover were combined. Over 1000 from 60 genera woody bamboos incorporated, allowing individual or groups genera, along with richness biodiversity hotspots. 6.3 million km2 potentially contains bamboo, highest densities indicated northeastern India through Burma to southern China, Sumatra Borneo. The figures (144 spp per square km) recorded in forests south including Hainan Island. Despite substantial inadequacies inconsistencies knowledge taxonomy species, this approach may provide valuable tool situ biodiversity.
