Carbon isotopic evidence for the role of lipids in petroleum formation

摘要: Data available on stable carbon isotope ratios (C13/C12) are reviewed. It is concluded that data for modern and ancient natural carbonaceous materials reveal consistently low C13/C12 substances of biologic origin as opposed to the inorganic carbonate minerals deposited in oceans. Ratios, marine organisms about 1% higher than those terrestrial organisms. The average ratio also organic matter sediments. A similar relation exists between petroleums other noncoaly genetically related nonmarine Coals all ranks have same range noted plants.
