摘要: The urgent need to mitigate climate change invokes both opportunities and challenges for forest biomass utilization. Fossil fuels can be substituted by using wood products in place of alternative materials energy, but harvesting reduces carbon sink processing requires material energy inputs. We assessed the extended life cycle emissions considering substitution impacts various utilization scenarios over 100 years from 2010 onward Finland. were based on constant structures reflecting current anticipated mix activities. applied stochastic simulation deal with uncertainty a number input variables required. According our analysis, decrease net probability lower than 40% each studied scenarios. Furthermore, large emission reductions exceptionally unlikely. results influenced clearly most reduction sink. There is significant trade-off between avoiding through fossil fuel due harvesting. This creates major challenge management practices activities responding ambitious mitigation targets.
