摘要: Abstract Study Objectives: To measure sound levels that our patients are exposed to in the surgical suite and their perception of these levels. Design: Sound experienced by 100 undergoing general anesthesia for elective surgery during three phases: induction maintenance operating room (OR), recovery from room, were measured using a Type 4436 Noise Dose Meter. The equivalent continuous (Leq), maximum (Lmax), sources sounds noted. Patients interviewed 24 hours after about they had OR rooms. Measurements Main Results: Leq induction, maintenance, phases 70.3 ± 16.8 dB(A), 66.2 4.1 dB(A) 71.8 6.1 respectively. These much higher than international recommendations hospital acute care areas exceed thresholds produce noise-induced cardiovascular endocrine effects. significantly compared phase. Much noise, particularly staff conversations, unnecessary alarms, preparation equipment, could been prevented simple measures. Conclusion: prevention needs more attention should be routine part patient care.
