The impact of children’s literature and discussion on attitudes toward disability

摘要: This study examines the impact of reading children’s literature that contains a positive and realistic portrayal character with learning disability on attitudes students without disabilities toward their peers disabilities. Children completed Attitude Toward Disabled Persons Scale (ADTP) before after listening to story participating in guided discussion. The researcher conducted individual interviews smaller group children based changes surveys. Quantitative results indicate statistically significant large effect towards persons from Qualitative made gains decreasing stereotyping people disabilities, largest attitude change who had connections lives.
