Multispectral airborne imagery in the field reveals genetic determinisms of morphological and transpiration traits of an apple tree hybrid population in response to water deficit

摘要: Genetic studies of response to water deficit in adult trees are limited by low throughput the usual phenotyping methods field. Here, we aimed at overcoming this bottleneck, applying a new methodology using airborne multispectral imagery and planta measurements compare high number individuals.An apple tree population, grafted on same rootstock, was submitted contrasting summer regimes over two years. Aerial images acquired visible, near- thermal-infrared three dates each year allowed calculation vegetation stress indices. Tree vigour fruit production were also assessed. Linear mixed models built accounting for date effects several variables including differential genotypes between control drought conditions.Broad-sense heritability most 18 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) independent detected nine linkage groups consensus genetic map. For indices, QTLs related means, intra-crown heterogeneity, differences induced regimes. Most explained 15-20% variance.Airborne imaging proved relevant acquire simultaneous information whole population decipher determinisms involved deficit.
