摘要: Spirotrichonymphea is a class of hypermastigote parabasalids defined by their spiral rows many flagella. They are obligate hindgut symbionts lower termites. Despite more than 100 yr morphological and ultrastructural study, the group remains poorly characterised molecular data phylogenetic positions taxonomic validity most genera remain in question. The genus Spirotrichonympha has been reported to inhabit several termite genera, including Reticulitermes, Coptotermes, Hodotermopsis. type species for this genus, flagellata, was described from Reticulitermes lucifugus but no yet available species. In three new Reticulitermes. Their position indicates that not monophyletic, as Paraneotermes, Hodotermopsis branch separately. contrast, Holomastigotoides demonstrated using sequences presence Prorhinotermes distinct Coptotermes consistent with previously proposed symbiont fauna replacement ancestor
